Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® –
Category 1
As the first clothing manufacturer worldwide, BMS has certified its entire collection according to Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® – Category 1. This is the strictest category and applies to textiles for babies and toddlers up to the age of three.
There are several important reasons for testing textiles for harmful substances:
- The harmlessness of textiles cannot be assessed by mere visual inspection – not even by experts. Laboratory tests based on scientific findings and carried out by institutions with the necessary expertise (such as the OEKO-TEX®) offer the only way to establish beyond doubt whether textile articles are free of undesirable pollutants.
- In addition, the production of textiles is strongly organised according to the division of labour. The individual processing stages are mostly located in several countries where there are different legal requirements with regard to possible pollutants. This is why transparent, globally uniform test criteria such as the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® are indispensable for testing for harmful substances.
- Many of the product properties that we want from textiles today (e.g. function, colour, non-iron finish, dimensional stability, etc.) can only be achieved through the targeted use of chemicals. Therefore, it is all the more important that no undesirable substances are used in textile production, which remain as residues on the end product and can cause health problems for the wearer.eo.
